Send your note to your EHR

Last updated: October 2, 2026

Push your reviewed note from the aflow side panel into the visit note in your EHR. aflow fills the matching fields and, where supported, adds the visit's diagnosis codes.

Before you start

  • Review the whole note in aflow. It's a draft until you check it.
  • In your EHR, open the same patient's chart and the visit note you want to fill, ready to edit.
  • If aflow shows Allow access to your EHR, select Allow access and approve Chrome's prompt.

Push the note

  1. Open the note in aflow. aflow checks that the chart open in your EHR belongs to the visit's patient.
  2. Select Push note at the bottom of the note. Keep the EHR note open until it finishes.
  3. When everything goes through, aflow shows All sections synced to EHR and the button changes to Pushed ยท Push again.
  4. Review the note in your EHR, then save and sign it there as you normally do.

To push a single section, select the send icon in its header. Hover over the icon first to see which EHR field it fills.

What to expect

  • Each section goes into the matching field of your EHR note. When several sections share one field, aflow adds each under its heading.
  • aflow adds section text without deleting what's already in the field. Pushing again can add a second copy, so check the EHR note first.
  • aflow adds diagnosis codes that are missing from the note. It never removes or duplicates codes already there.

Diagnoses by EHR

  • Elation: added to the note's Assessment & Plan with their assessment and plan text.
  • eClinicalWorks: added to the Assessment, with assessment and plan text in each diagnosis's notes.
  • Office Ally: added to the diagnosis code slots, with assessment and plan text in Assessment Notes.
  • Practice Fusion: attached to the encounter, with assessment and plan text in the note.
  • NextGen Office: added in Diagnosis Coding, with each diagnosis's text as a comment.
  • EHR Your Way: aflow pushes note text only. Enter diagnosis codes in the EHR.

Check that it worked

Each pushed section shows a green Pushed label with the time, and the note shows a Pushed badge in Recent notes. Always confirm the text in the EHR note itself.

If the push doesn't work

  • Push note isn't available: follow the message above the button. Usually you need to open this patient's chart or a note in the EHR.
  • Link patient: the open chart isn't linked to this patient yet. If it's the same person, select Link patient.
  • Push anyway: aflow couldn't confirm the open chart. Check that it's the right patient before you push.
  • A section shows Failed: hover over it to see why. Make sure the EHR note is still open and editable, shorten text that's over a character limit, then select the send icon again.
  • Diagnosis push failed: enter the listed codes in the EHR yourself.
  • No matching field: select the section's copy icon and paste the text into the EHR.
