Install the aflow Chrome extension
Last updated: October 2, 2026
The aflow extension adds a side panel to Google Chrome, so you can use aflow right next to your EHR. This article shows you how to install it, pin it to your toolbar, and open the side panel.
Before you start
- Use Google Chrome on a computer.
- Check that your EHR is supported. See the list of compatible EHRs.
- Have your aflow account email handy. You'll sign in after you install.
Install the extension
- In Chrome, open the aflow extension in the Chrome Web Store.
- Add the extension to Chrome.
- When Chrome asks, confirm that you want to add aflow.
If Chrome won't let you add extensions, your computer may be managed by your IT team. Ask them to allow the aflow extension.
Pin aflow to your toolbar
Pinning keeps aflow one click away.
- Click the Extensions button (the puzzle-piece icon) in Chrome's toolbar.
- Find aflow in the list and click the pin icon next to it.
Open the side panel
- Click the aflow icon in your toolbar. When you point to it, it reads Open aflow.
- The aflow side panel opens next to the page you're viewing.
Keep your EHR in the same Chrome window as the side panel. aflow works with whichever tab is active in that window.
Keep aflow up to date
Chrome updates aflow automatically. When an update is ready, the side panel may show A new version of aflow is available. Click Close & update to install it now. Closing the side panel also installs it. Then open the side panel again.
What's next
Sign in from the side panel (see Sign in to aflow). The first time you open your EHR, aflow asks you to allow access so it can find the patient you have open (see Find your patient in the side panel).
